On MetaTrader4 (MT4) / MetaTrader5 (MT5), you can check your balance, equity, margin, free margin, margin level, and profit/loss in the "Trade" tab of the Terminal/Toolbox.
Here we will look at how to check your balance information on MT4/MT5.
Switch between MT4/MT5 tabs to check the steps for each.
Step 1
Click the "Trade" tab in the Terminal. You can find the balance, equity, margin, free margin, margin level, and total P/L of the trading account in the gray row.
Number |
Item name |
Descriptions |
---|---|---|
1 |
Balance |
The account balance available for withdrawal. |
2 |
Equity |
The amount of money available for trades. If there is some credit, it shows the total amount of balance and credit. If you are holding positions, the floating P/L is also added or deducted. |
3 |
Margin |
The amount of money required to hold positions. |
4 |
Free Margin |
The amount of equity minus margin. |
5 |
Margin Level |
The percentage of equity to margin. |
6 |
P/L |
The profit/loss of the open trades. |
If there's a swap, it'll be included in the P/L. If the account charges fees, the round-trip fee will be deducted when closing your position in MT4, so it'll be included in the floating P/L until then. In MT5, the one-way transaction fee will be deducted from your balance when entering your position, so it won't be included in the floating P/L.
