On MetaTrader4 (MT4) / MetaTrader5 (MT5), you can check your balance, equity, margin, free margin, margin level, and profit/loss in the "Trade" tab of the Terminal/Toolbox.

Here we will look at how to check your balance information on MT4/MT5.

Switch between MT4/MT5 tabs to check the steps for each.

Step 1

Click the "Trade" tab in the Terminal. You can find the balance, equity, margin, free margin, margin level, and total P/L of the trading account in the gray row.

Balance

The account balance available for withdrawal.

Equity

The amount of money available for trades. If there is some credit, it shows the total amount of balance and credit. If you are holding positions, the floating P/L is also added or deducted.

The amount of money required to hold positions.

The amount of equity minus margin.

Margin Level

The percentage of equity to margin.

P/L

The profit/loss of the open trades.

If there's a swap, it'll be included in the P/L. If the account charges fees, the round-trip fee will be deducted when closing your position in MT4, so it'll be included in the floating P/L until then. In MT5, the one-way transaction fee will be deducted from your balance when entering your position, so it won't be included in the floating P/L.
