Yesterday the USDJPY fell below 153 yen some time after GMT 08:30, and shortly after GMT 11:00 it hit a low of 152.77.

The U.S. ADP employment figures for October that were released at GMT 12:15 were strong, coming in at 233,000 compared to a forecast of 114,000. The market reacted by buying the dollar, but although it reached 153.49 at around GMT 12:30 it failed to move higher, and trading for the day closed at 153.40.

Recap of the Tokyo market and outlook going forward

Today it was announced shortly after GMT 02:30 that the Bank of Japan Monetary's Monetary Policy Meeting had left the policy interest rate unchanged. The USDJPY briefly reached 153.62 but then sold off, and as of GMT 04:00 was trading in the area of 153 yen.

Looking at the 1-hour chart of the USDJPY (as of GMT 03:50 on October 31), the market is showing no clear movement, and continues to trade within the range in which it has been since the start of the week.
